Equation Forge

A math puzzle with match-style tiles: swap numbers, operators and equals signs on a 6×6 grid until a true equation like 3 × 4 = 12 lines up, then watch it get hammered into points.

How to play

Swap two adjacent tiles to build a true equation of five tiles in a row or column, such as 7 + 5 = 12 or 20 = 4 × 5. Correct equations are forged and cleared, the tiles above fall down, and new equations made by the falling tiles count as chains. Every swap costs one move, so finish the level goal before your moves run out.

• 30 levels that introduce the four operations step by step: addition first, then subtraction, multiplication and exact division.
• Four kinds of goals: forge a number of equations, use a given operation, hit a target result, or reach a score.
• Daily Forge: one shared puzzle per day (UTC) with your best score of the day and a streak counter.
• Never stuck: every grid starts with equations one move away, and the board reheats itself for free when no equation can be made in two moves.
• Free hints (a short wait between hints), plus one free shuffle per level (in the 30 levels, extra shuffles cost 2 moves each).
• Up to three stars per level, chain multipliers and a bonus for every move you save.
• Warm blacksmith-forge look with steel, brass and iron tiles, sparks and glowing embers.
• Available in 10 languages.
• Portrait layout that works on desktop and mobile browsers. Progress is saved in your browser.

Controls

• Desktop: click a tile, then click an adjacent tile to swap them, or drag a tile towards the tile you want to swap with. Keyboard: arrow keys move the cursor, Space or Enter selects a tile and the next arrow key swaps it in that direction. H = hint, S = shuffle, Esc or P = pause, M = mute.
• Mobile: tap two adjacent tiles, or swipe a tile in the direction you want to swap.

Supported browsers

Recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile. Use fullscreen on phones for the best view.
